A KNIFE-POINT robbery was carried out on a man as he was he left a supermarket.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was walking along Southchurch Avenue with his shopping from Tesco Express at about 10.35pm on Monday August 23.

He was using his mobile phone when he was approached by two men who threatened him with a knife and stole his phone and wallet.

After the men took the phone the victim asked if he could keep the SIM card. The suspects then handed the SIM card back to him.

The first suspect is described as being white, in his late 20s, slim, 5ft 8ins, bald, wearing a white t-shirt with red writing, light blue jeans and white trainers.

The second suspect is described as white, 5ft 6in, wearing a dark blue t-shirt, dark jeans and dark trainers. He had mid-length dark hair.

Police would also like to speak to two women seen in the area. They were seen standing outside the supermarket.

Pc Jamie Willetts said: “I am asking people think back to the evening of Monday, August 23. Do you remember seeing these men in or nearby Southchurch Avenue?

"This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim so I would appeal for your help in finding these two men.”
