FIVE illegal workers have been arrested following a raid on an Indian restaurant.
Officers from the Local Immigration Team for the UK Border Agency swooped on the Moza Indian Buffet, in Festival Leisure Park, off Cranes Farm Road, Basildon.
Immigration checks revealed that five Bangladeshi men were illegally working.
Two offenders, aged 31 and 32, had overstayed their visas.
Another two men, aged 23 and 29, were working in breach of their visas, while the fifth man, 33, had entered the UK illegally.
The UK Border Agency is now working to remove all five men from the country.
The restaurant faces a potential fine of up to £50,000 unless it can prove the correct pre-employment checks were carried out.
The raid took place shortly after 2pm on Thursday, September 1.
