LOOKING AHEAD: Southend Manor will attempt to reach the second round of the FA Vase for the first time since 2012 tomorrow.

Manor, who have been struggling in the league and find themselves in 16th place in the Essex Senior League, welcome Redbridge - another league underachiever.

The two met just three weeks, Manor losing a 2-0 half-time lead to fall to a 3-2 defeat.

MANAGER’S VIEW: “It is a welcome break from the league and we need some momentum,” said boss Adam Peek. “We have not been in the second round of the FA Vase for a long time and it would be big for us at this moment in time.

“We played Redbridge three weeks ago, were 2-0 up and ended up losing 3-2. We were naïve in how we managed the game. They lost 3-0 to Walthamstow but beat Takeley 3-0 so it often depends which team turns up on the day. We are doing OK in cup competitions and we need to play without pressure.

“If you look at our first seven or eight games we were conceding on average 2.5 goals a game. We needed to tighten up and we are more difficult to beat now. We have only conceded four goals in the last four games but we have been missing strikers so we have been struggling up the other end of the pitch.

“We can say what we want but we need to find a way to start winning.”

TEAM NEWS: Striker Mo Kargbo returns, Nathan Dewberry could come back from injury.
