CHRIS Powell believes Southend United are a match for anyone in League One, despite his side’s inconsistent start to the season.

The Shrimpers go into tonight’s clash against Walsall at Roots Hall sitting 12th in the standings.

But Powell feels Blues are capable of beating those above them in the table, despite having lost all five of their meetings against top 10 teams this term.

“It’s going to be a test against Walsall but, on our day, we’re a match for any team in this league and we’ve shown that this season in spells,” said Powell.

“We were on top against Peterborough but we didn’t make it count. We have to do it more regularly but if it’s a time to show people what we’re about then so be it.”
