ROB Small was pleased to enjoy a milestone victory as Bowers & Pitsea claimed a 3-0 win over Mildenhall Town.

A Lewis Manor brace, along with a David Knight strike, allowed the Isthmian North table-toppers to secure their 150th win under Small.

And the Bowers boss was delighted to notch the historic triumph in just 241 fixtures.

“I was delighted to win the game and I had no idea that it was my 150th win as manager of the club,” said Small, who is into his fifth season at the helm.

“Someone told me after the game that it was my 150th win, but I didn’t know up until that point.

“It’s not something I have kept track of, in all honesty, and maybe it’s something I should be keeping on top of.

“Once I was told, my initial reaction was ‘is that all?’ but when you put that into perspective, it’s a big achievement.

“I also got told that it won’t be long until I’ll be the longest serving manager of Bowers & Pitsea, but I would trade it all to win titles instead.”

Bowers opened the scoring just before the half hour mark as Knight’s corner was inadvertently punched onto the back of Manor’s head by Mildenhall goalkeeper Blake Horton and ended up in the back of the net.

Another milestone was reached at the Len Salmon Stadium as the hosts moved beyond 500 minutes without conceding a goal.

And Mildenhall’s hopes of securing a positive result suffered a blow as Thomas Boxer was given his marching orders after bringing down Knight when the frontman had only the goalkeeper to beat.

Bowers doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time as Manor headed home another Knight corner.

Manor and Knight’s roles were reversed after the interval as Knight added his name to the scoresheet by coolly slotting home following a Manor flick-on.

Bowers’ all-time record goalscorer Manor then struck the crossbar as the striker was frustrated in his efforts to score a hat-trick.

And Mildenhall’s day got worse as they were forced to play the final eight minutes with nine men due to James Seymour being shown his second yellow card.

Tom Stephen was brilliantly denied by Horton late on, but three goals was enough for Bowers to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign.
