GARRY Kimble was critical of his Great Wakering Rovers side after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Soham Town Rangers.

Marcus Bowers came off the bench and got his name on the scoresheet, but the strugglers were able to notch all three points.

And Wakering boss Kimble was frustrated by his side’s performance just seven days after beating in-form Heybridge Swifts.

“We were not at the races and it was really disappointing,” said Kimble.

“It looks like we have gone a step back again and we conceded three poor goals.

“Two of them are own goals and the players have got to look at themselves because we were not good enough.

“We can’t play the better sides in the division, like Heybridge, and beat them but then lose to Soham if we want to do anything this season.”

A Brandy Makhendi own goal was followed by a Lloyd Groves effort to put Soham in the ascendancy.

Although Bowers pulled a goal back with nine minutes to go at Julius Martin Lane, Soham ensured all three points as defender Scott Pethers put through his own net two minutes later.
