DEAN Brennan believes his latest acquisitions have improved Billericay Town’s options.

Mark Smith, Lloyd Doyley and Kieron Cadogan made their Town debuts in the National League South defeat to rivals Chelmsford City on New Year’s Day.

But Billericay boss Brennan is pleased to have the trio at the AGP Arena.

Brennan said: “Mark is a very good goalkeeper and his distribution is fantastic.

“His distribution allows us to quickly go on the attack and that’s how we want to play.

“We want to play with a high tempo and Mark is a good, solid goalkeeper as well.

“He has joined us from Eastbourne Borough and they were very good with us in getting the deal done.

“Mark is 23 and he is certainly one for the future for us, but that is what we want because my aim was always to build a young and dynamic team here.

“Lloyd is 36 but I know him very well from our time together at Hemel Hempstead Town and his experience is fantastic.

“He will lead by example around the camp and he is an unbelievable professional as well.

“Lloyd needs to be man-managed, but we need to make sure that we give him minutes on the pitch.

“I have always admired Kieron and I thought we needed more creativity as well as explosiveness.

“He gives us pace, trickery and will create chances so he is another fantastic addition for us.”

Brennan will be hoping that the trio will make a positive impact when Billericay travel to Weston-super-Mare tomorrow.

Town, who are aiming to claim back-to-back promotions, have slipped to seventh place in the standings after suffering four league defeats on the bounce.

Weston, meanwhile, prop up the National League South table after enduring a frustrating opening half of the campaign.

However, Weston boosted their survival chances by claiming a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Gloucester City on New Year’s Day and Brennan is weary of the threat the home side will possess.

“They have picked up some points in recent games and are a young team with pace,” added the Billericay chief.

“Weston like to play out from the back and I know their management team quite well.

“If we are not on our game then we will not win.

“Weston always go on really good runs after Christmas, so I’m expecting a tough test this weekend.”
