GARRY Kimble wants new signing Abdi Mohamad Abdisamad to make an instant impact when Great Wakering Rovers travel to Felixstowe & Walton United this weekend.

Abdisamad has joined the Isthmian North club from Glebe and scored in the friendly win over White Ensign in midweek.

And Kimble hopes Abdisamad will prove to be an attacking threat.

The Wakering boss said: “I spoke to Anwar Uddin, who has since left Glebe, and asked if he had a winger or striker that would be good enough to join us.

“He spoke to Abdi and we said we just wanted to look at him for one game.

“It took him an hour-and-a-half to get to the game with White Ensign, so that shows his dedication, and he did ever so well.

“He has signed for us now and I think we have a really good player on our hands.”

Wakering, who are just one place behind Felixstowe in 15th, will be looking to build on last weekend’s victory over Romford.

Goals from Josh Wiggins and Billy Johnson allowed Wakering to come from behind and return to winning ways.

But Kimble knows Wakering will need to be at their best to register back-to-back victories.

“It’s going to be a hard game because I think they have picked up a bit,” added Kimble.

“They have some good players on their books, but we got three points last time out and I’m hoping we can do the same again.

“Winning breeds confidence and hopefully last weekend’s win over Romford will kickstart our season.”
