ROB Kiernan will end 18 months of injury frustration when he lines up for Southend United’s under 23 side at MK Dons on Monday.

The centre-back, who has been out of action since August 2017, has had operations on both of his knees.

But Blues boss Chris Powell confirmed the defender would be back in action at the start of next week.

“Rob will play on Monday but he’s in a different place to the others because he’s been out so long,” said Powell.

“We’ve managed his training and he’s looked OK.

“But the ultimate test for him will be playing 45 minutes or an hour against MK Dons.”

Harry Lennon is also expected to feature for the Shrimpers.
