SAMMY Moore was disappointed to see Concord Rangers fail to hold onto their lead as the Beach Boys were made to settle for a 2-2 draw at Chelmsford City.

Goals from Alex Wall and Jack Midson allowed Concord to cancel out Scott Fenwick’s opener and turn the game on its head.

But Chris Whelpdale hit Chelmsford’s leveller before the Beach Boys’ Tosan Popo was sent off and Moore was pleased with his side’s display.

“I thought a draw was fair,” said the player-manager.

“The two teams went toe-to-toe with each other and I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t see the game out after getting our noses in front.

“We’ve got to turn the draws into wins and we have got to win (at Gloucester City) on Tuesday night.

“It’s probably a point gained because not many teams around us won. We are one step closer to the play-offs than we were before kick-off.

“We need a big effort from our players and one loss in 15 is outstanding.”

Fenwick handed Chelmsford a 15th minute lead, but Wall levelled matters nine minutes before the break.

Midson put Concord ahead from the penalty spot after Mickey Spillane had handled.

Whelpdale ensured a share of the spoils before Popo was shown two quickfire yellow cards and Concord finished the National League South clash with 10 men.
