JOHN Sussex insists he is not looking to make wholesale changes to the Basildon United squad.

Sussex was appointed as the Bees’ new boss on Wednesday, replacing Neil Blackburn in the hotseat.

The former Witham Town assistant manager’s first Isthmian North clash in charge will come at Felixstowe & Walton United tomorrow.

And although Sussex welcomed his first signing in the form of defender Eli Benoit last night, he is eager for those he has inherited to impress.

“They get good crowds at Felixstowe and it’s not unusual for them to get 400 through the gate,” said Sussex.

“I wish we had more time to work on things in training, but we will be as prepared as we can possibly be.

“The main objective for me is to bring stability to the club and I’m not looking to make lots of changes to the squad we have.

“The only players I will bring in between now and the end of the season are players I know well and have worked with before.

“We will work with who we have already got at the club and possibly bring in some experienced players to make the team gel a bit more.

“But there will be no major changes.”

Basildon go into the match having suffered two consecutive 4-0 defeats to Bowers & Pitsea and AFC Sudbury.

The Bees are 14th in the standings, while Felixstowe are 12th.
