BOWERS & Pitsea registered an 11th consecutive Isthmian North win as they thumped Bury Town.

Rob Small’s table-toppers ensured a 5-1 win at Ram Meadow thanks to a brace of goals from David Knight and Max Cornhill, while Lewis Manor was also on target.

Ollie Hughes grabbed the hosts’ only goal of the encounter.

But Knight was left to rue a missed opportunity to claim a hat-trick as the striker sent a first half spot-kick wide of the target.

Meanwhile, John Sussex recorded his first win in charge of Basildon United as the Bees came from behind to beat bottom side Romford 3-1.

George Woodward put the visitors on course for a valuable three points to aid their push for survival.

But second half goals from Daniel Cheema, Callum Taylor and Joe Paxman allowed the home side to triumph at the Ho Ho Stadium.

Great Wakering Rovers claimed a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 with Soham Town Rangers.

Jake Gordon, who is Wakering’s top scorer this season, gave Steve Butterworth’s side an early lead.

But Soham hit back through Lewis Endacott on 72 minutes to salvage a draw despite Alfie Connor receiving his marching orders late on.

It was another day to forget for Canvey Island as they lost 4-1 to Dereham Town.

Ryan Crisp and Joe Gatting scored before the break to put struggling Dereham in the ascendancy, before Gatting doubled his tally 10 minutes after the interval.

James White gave the Gulls hope of staging a comeback as he found the back of the net on 64 minutes.

But Dereham sealed the victory as Rhys Logan added his name to the scoresheet in the dying minutes.
