SAMMY Moore felt his side made a statement as Concord Rangers notched a 4-1 win at Hampton & Richmond Borough.

A Jack Midson brace, along with goals from Danny Green and Joan Luque, allowed the Beach Boys to move to within three points of the National League South play-off places.

And player-manager Moore was pleased to see his side triumph at Beveree Stadium.

Moore said: “It was tough conditions for both sides, but I thought we dealt with it really well in the first half.

“We were quick out of the blocks and were on the front foot.

“We were brave in possession of the ball and that’s the reason why we won the penalty.

“We wanted to see the half out and get in at half-time 1-0 up, but an individual error cost us.

“I thought that we didn’t start the second half particularly well, but we were excellent once we settled down.

“We went into the game still in with a shout of the play-offs and we needed to really go and make a statement. We certainly did that.”

Midson stroked home a ninth minute spot-kick to put Concord in front, but Hampton responded with a penalty converted by Chris Dickson.

Green restored the Beach Boys’ lead with a low drive before Midson completed his brace.

Luque, who came off the bench to replace the injured Alex Wall, rounded off the scoring in injury time.
