HULLBRIDGE Sports remain in pole position to win the Essex Senior League title after sealing a 3-0 win over 10-man Ilford.

Sports are two points clear at the division’s summit with just one fixture remaining.

And they will go into the final day clash at home to Stanway Rovers in high spirits after convincingly beating Ilford.

Emmanuel Okunja broke the deadlock with just three minutes on the clock and Hullbridge also had a man advantage after an Ilford red card five minutes before the interval.

Matt Rose saw a free-kick crash against the crossbar, but Nathan Scarborough added his name to the scoresheet six minutes into the second half.

Luke Hornsley completed the scoring in injury time.

Meanwhile, Southend Manor suffered a 3-2 defeat at high-flying Saffron Walden Town.

Spike Bell headed the hosts in front after 10 minutes and he doubled his tally after the break.

Matt Frew handed Saffron Walden Town a three-goal advantage.

But Manor hit back and the home side had to survive a late comeback.

Mo Kargbo reduced the deficit with five minutes remaining after running the length of the pitch.

And Kargbo completed his brace by smashing home to set up a nervy finish for the hosts, but Saffron Walden Town held on to secure all three points.
