DARREN Beale insists Concord Rangers will make the trip to high-flying Woking with ‘nothing to fear or lose’.

The Beach Boys are set to visit the Laithwaite Community Stadium today, having broken into the National League South play-off places thanks to a 3-1 victory in the rearranged fixture with Truro City in midweek.

And Beale, Concord’s first team coach, feels the Beach Boys must only concentrate on themselves as they look to remain in the division’s top seven by picking up a positive result in Surrey this afternoon.

Beale said: “We will be the underdogs but we have nothing to fear or lose.

“We put in a good performance against them in the reverse fixture and these are the sort of sides we want to test ourselves against.

“They have some really good players and it’s a difficult place to go.

“Hopefully we can get something out of the game but if not there are still two games to go.

“We have got into the play-off places now but we’re fully aware that could all change because it is so tight.

“We are there on goal difference but, come the end of the season, that could prove to be as valuable as an extra point.”

Woking’s dreams of pipping Torquay United to the title were ended thanks to their 2-0 defeat at Chelmsford City last weekend, but they will be looking to gather momentum ahead of their play-off campaign.

The Cards boast several players who have been in impressive form throughout the season, including Max Kretzschmar and former Billericay Town duo Nicky Wheeler and Ben Gerring.

Woking - who are second in the standings - are currently 14 points better off than Concord ahead of today’s meeting, but the Beach Boys will be in buoyant mood having beaten Truro in midweek.

Goals from the returning Alex Wall, Jack Midson and Sam Ashford allowed Concord to move into the final play-off spot at the expense of St Albans City.

And Beale believes boss Sammy Moore deserves plenty of credit for what he has achieved in his first season at the Aspect Arena.

Beale added: “Going to Woking having got into the play-offs in midweek is a boost because we have been working towards that all season.

“Hats off to Sammy, Jack and the rest of the backroom staff because nobody would have given us a chance of making the play-offs at the start of the season, but they have built a squad that has got us there and now it’s up to us to make sure we stay in there.”
