TOSIN Olufemi is honoured to have been named as Concord Rangers’ new team captain.

The right-back, who joined from Haringey Borough in May, has impressed in pre-season and will lead the Beach Boys out as they get their National League South campaign underway at Oxford City this weekend.

And Olufemi is also pleased to have seen fellow summer arrival Jack Cawley named as vice-captain.

“It’s an honour and I’m excited to be captain of the team,” said Olufemi.

“I’m excited by the opportunity and I can’t wait for the season to start.

“I’ve known Jack for a while now and, when he was at Maldon & Tiptree, we had a few little clashes.

“We’ll work well together and if there is anything I need help with or he needs help with, we will bounce off each other well.”

Danny Green has been confirmed as the club captain of the new-look Concord side.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge and Charlton Athletic winger is one of few players to have remained at the Aspect Arena after a mass exodus in the summer.

And Olufemi believes Green, who scored both goals as the Beach Boys completed their pre-season programme with a 2-2 against AFC Telford United, is the right man for the job.

“I feel like I’ve known Greeny for years and he has been great since I walked through the door,” added Olufemi.

“His experience definitely tells and he has been here for a while now.

“It’s perfect for him to be club captain and do the things off the field.

“He will give us any support we need whether things are going well or not.

“As team captain, I know I can always speak to him if I need advice.”

Olufemi insists it will not be difficult to control the personalities in the dressing room.

“You need personalities in the dressing room, so we won’t have to manage it too much,” admitted Olufemi.

“We just need to make sure we have control of it.

“The boys bounce off each other well, so it’s just about all of us coming together and having a good season.”

Meanwhile, Joe Claridge has signed for the club following a successful trial period.

Claridge joins from Isthmian North side Heybridge Swifts.

Youngster Alex Hernandez has signed first team papers after impressing in pre-season.
