BASILDON United will be judged on their final two pre-season friendlies, according to boss John Sussex.

The Bees have been in fine form during the summer and will face FC Romania, who ply their trade in the Isthmian South Central, tomorrow.

Sussex wants to maintain that winning feeling by picking up another positive result.

“FC Romania are at the same standard as us,” said Sussex, whose side overcame Essex Senior League outfit Sporting Bengal United in midweek.

“They have a lot of good players and are an established team who have been together for a long period of time.

“We have tried different things and got people fit, but it is the next two games that we will be judged on.

“Although it’s only a friendly, we’re only two weeks away from the start of the season and we need to up the tempo.

“It’s important that we have that winning mentality ahead of the new campaign.”

Sussex is looking forward to seeing his side put to the test by FC Romania.

“Despite using lots of players and trialists, we have still won four of our five friendlies so far,” added Sussex.

“I know all of our games up until this point have been against opponents who play at a lower level, but it has all been about getting minutes into the players’ legs.

“We’ve made a lot of signings since the end of last season and our friendlies and training sessions have given the players time to gel.

“I’m happy with how pre-season has gone so far.”
