WHITE Ensign are set to make history as they compete in the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history tonight.

The Eastern Counties League Division One South are set to do battle with Woodford Town in the extra preliminary round.

And player-manager Brett Munyard is hoping to make it a night to remember by progressing in the competition.

“We are extremely excited to be playing in the FA Cup tonight,” said Munyard.

“It will be the first time the club has played in the competition and it is something I don’t think anyone thought would be possible.

“It’s going to be a very hard game against a really good Woodford Town side but we will give it a really good go.

“Although many will see us as the underdogs in the game, we believe we can get the job done.

“Whatever happens, it’s going to be a special night and one the club will always remember.

“I’m very proud to be involved and can’t wait for kick-off.”

Woodford have been in fine form so far this term, winning both of their Essex Senior League fixtures and sitting at the top of the standings.

White Ensign, meanwhile, suffered an opening day defeat to May & Baker thanks to a last-gasp winner.

While Munyard feels White Ensign deserved at least a share of the spoils, he insists the setback should result in a reaction from his players.

“We have had a difficult week after losing our first game of the season,” added Munyard.

“It was very harsh on us but it’s the perfect opportunity to put that behind us.”
