LEWIS Greene is set to make his first appearance of the season when Hullbridge Sports make the trip to Cambridge City tomorrow.

The goalkeeper dislocated a finger during pre-season, which resulted in boss Darren Manning signing Rob Budd.

But Budd has left the club for Herne Bay and Greene will come into Sports’ starting line-up for the Isthmian North clash with Cambridge.

“Buddy has left but Lewis is now back and fully fit, so his departure does not necessarily come at a bad time,” said Manning.

“Lewis being back means there are no dramas when it comes to the goalkeeper situation and we don’t have to go out and bring in another one.

“I know that Lewis is raring to go and he has no shortage of quality.

“He is a great goalkeeper and we’re looking forward to seeing him back between the sticks.”

Hullbridge have garnered one point from their first three matches of an inaugural Isthmian North campaign.

Defeats to Witham Town and Canvey Island came either side of a goalless draw at promotion favourites Aveley.

And Manning is hopeful of recording a first ever win in the fourth tier of non-league football.

“Going to places like Cambridge is what it is all about,” added Manning, whose side were crowned the Essex Senior League champions last season.

“They are a very good club who have had an indifferent start.

“We will need to dig in while showing our character and desire.

“It’s important that we are also more clinical than we have been.”
