SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin is backing Sol Campbell to make an immediate impact as the Shrimpers manager.
Campbell will take charge of Blues for the first time when table-topping Ipswich Town visit Roots Hall on Saturday.
And Martin feels the former England defender can get the Shrimpers back on track.
“I really like Sol and his team and I think they will make an immediate impact,” Martin told Talksport.
“They got the players in today and they’re on it.
“Sol wants to get into them quickly and I think that’s really important.”
“These players are not that bad. There are some good players here but they’re not playing as a team at the moment.”
Blues are 22nd in the table.
