BOWERS & Pitsea, Basildon United and Canvey Island booked their place in the fourth round of the Essex Senior Cup after recording impressive victories.
Rob Small’s Bowers registered their first win after 90 minutes since September 21 as they beat Brightlingsea Regent 2-0 in an all-Isthmian Premier League tie.
Brad Warner broke the deadlock three minutes after the interval and Dan Trendall rounded off the scoring.
Just 48 hours after John Sussex’s resignation, Basildon recorded a fine 2-1 win over Isthmian North rivals Aveley.
The Bees went ahead inside seven minutes thanks to a Harry Gibbs own goal, while Ernest Okoh doubled the home side’s advantage at the Cousins Car Wash Stadium.
Although Jonathan Nzengo – the former East Thurrock United full-back – pulled a goal back for Aveley on the stroke of half-time, Basildon triumphed.
Canvey sealed a 2-0 victory at Harlow Town.
Mark Bentley’s side progressed to the fourth round of the competition thanks to second half goals from Rob Lacey and Tobi Joseph.
