DANNY Scopes hopes Decarrey Sheriff will maintain his fine form when Concord Rangers head to Bath City this weekend.

The Beach Boys ended a run of six consecutive defeats by beating Hemel Hempstead Town last weekend and followed that up with a 1-0 victory over holders East Thurrock United in the Essex Senior Cup third round.

Summer signing Sheriff netted in both contests and Scopes feels the frontman is building his confidence.

The Concord chief said: “Scoring two goals in two games will be good for Decarrey’s confidence.

“Any striker in any team needs a goal or an assist to build their confidence, otherwise they start doubting themselves.

“I thought Decarrey was excellent against Hemel and he didn’t stop running.

“Having that same work rate against East Thurrock on a Tuesday night is very difficult but he managed it and got his rewards.

“He took that chance and that is obviously a positive.”

And Scopes was pleased to record back-to-back victories for the first time since August.

“We want to do well in cup competitions and this is a competition that we feel we have a realistic chance of doing well in and getting to the final,” added Scopes.

“After being on a run of defeats, getting back-to-back wins is fantastic.

“Getting through to the next round and keeping a clean sheet were the main aims and we achieved that.”
