ROB Small has challenged his Bowers & Pitsea side to string a number of positive results together after bouncing back to winning ways in midweek.

Bowers bagged their first victory in nine Isthmian Premier League outings when they recorded a 2-0 win over Bishop’s Stortford.

And Small is keen to build on the result when Margate visit the Len Salmon Stadium tomorrow.

“It was our first home league win of the season and we went into the game having taken one point from the last 24 on offer, so it was nice to come out on top,” said Small.

“But when you look at the teams we have faced in that run, they have all been fighting near the top of the table and it has been a difficult fixture list to deal with.

“It was nice to bounce back but there is still a lot of work to do.

“We scrapped for three points on Tuesday and I think we are capable of stringing a run of results together.

“I am hoping this is the time where we will do that because this squad is a lot more capable of competing at this level than they have been showing.”

And Small is relishing going up against Jay Saunders’ Margate.

“Margate are a huge club with a manager who has probably forgotten more than I know after everything he achieved as Maidstone United’s manager and in his playing career,” added Small.

“It’s important that we enjoy playing against this calibre of opponents.

“This season is a new challenge with big clubs and it’s a good opportunity to add another scalp to the list.”
