DARREN Manning has strengthened his Hullbridge Sports attacking options by completing the signing of Dan Gilchrist.

The striker - who counts Great Wakering Rovers and Canvey Island among his former clubs - has made the move from Essex Senior League outfit Redbridge.

And Manning hopes Gilchrist will be able to replicate the fine form he enjoyed at Redbridge following the switch.

“Dan has come in and I was made aware of his availability by Redbridge manager Micky Wetherall,” said Sports boss Manning.

“I spoke to Dan and he was keen to make the step up.

“He has got close to a goal a game and bringing that quality in is great.

“I’m pleased to have Dan on board because he is someone I have been looking at for some time.”

Gilchrist could make his debut when Hullbridge visit Wakering in the Isthmian League Cup tonight.

Canvey Island’s Isthmian League Cup clash with Witham Town will now be played at Park Lane this evening.

The contest was due to go ahead at Witham but, having seen the two sides’ Isthmian North meeting at the same venue postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the weekend, the encounter has been reversed.
