ECHOSPORT talks to Burton Albion fan Aaron Bowler ahead of tonight’s game at the Pirelli Stadium.

What have you made of Burton’s season so far?

“The season has been very disjointed due to the amount of international breaks. However, we have been very average so far this season, which is why we sit in 14th position. This is quite disappointing as we have not been consistent at all so far and will need to improve on that if we want to go on a play-off push.”

What had been the hopes for Burton this season and what do you feel can still be achieved?

“The hopes for this season in many supporters’ eyes was to challenge for a place in the play-offs. But we seem to have been off the pace in many games this season but in other games we have looked as though we can challenge for the play-offs.

“As long as we begin to get some consistency, the play-offs are still achievable this year and will hopefully be the target for the club. However, I feel like mid-table will be a more realistic finishing position for us unless we find consistency.”

Who would you say is Burton’s dangerman?

“It would have to be Liam Boyce with nine goals in all competitions this season. That includes a hat-trick against Morecambe in the Carabao Cup and two goals in his last two games.”

Why do Burton seem to score more freely away from home?

“I think it’s because of the tactics of other teams. Many teams come to the Pirelli and sit back with a defensive mindset. However, when we play away teams we seem to play more freely at home which we are able to play better against.”

What’s the team news tonight?

“Oliver Sarkic, Johnny Brayford and Nathan Broadhead are all injured and doubts for the game with Nigel Clough saying Broadhead is 50-50.”
