MARK Bentley insists he has the full backing of the Canvey Island chairman following back-to-back defeats.

The Gulls, who are currently 11th in the standings and five points adrift of the Isthmian North play-off places, head to third-placed Bury Town this weekend.

And, after two consecutive losses against Tilbury and Hullbridge, Bentley maintains the full support of the Gulls’ board.

“A few things were said after the Hullbridge game but there is no way that I want to leave,” said Bentley.

“I have the full support of the chairman and he is very positive about the way I am going about things.

“I’m motivated to do well and it’s about finding that consistency.

“We can’t put in good performances like against Heybridge Swifts and Aveley before the displays against Tilbury and Hullbridge.

“When we are consistent, we will build momentum.”
