THERE was plenty of late drama at Billericay Town, Bowers & Pitsea and Canvey Island.

Billericay came from behind to seal a 2-2 draw with Slough Town and keep their unbeaten National League South record at New Lodge intact.

Although Matt Lench gave high-flying Slough a 14th minute lead, Billericay were back on level terms before the break thanks to Ody Alfa’s deflected strike.

Ronnie Henry and Jack Paxman missed presentable opportunities after the break and Slough profited as George Wells restored the visitors’ slender advantage.

It looked as though Jamie O’Hara’s side were going to be beaten, but captain Henry snatched a share of the spoils with a leveller in the second minute of injury time.

Bowers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cray Wanderers in the Isthmian Premier League.

Brad Warner broke the deadlock from the penalty spot shortly before half-time.

But Joseph Taylor equalised shortly after the hour-mark at the Len Salmon Stadium.

Rob Small’s 300th match in charge of Bowers ended in defeat after Rhys Murrell-Williamson grabbed an 88th minute winner.

Canvey were also hit with a late sucker punch as they lost 2-1 against Dereham Town.

Rob Lacey gave the Gulls the lead on 51 minutes at Park Lane.

But Canvey’s lead lasted just seven minutes as Robbie Linford found the back of the net.

And Mark Bentley’s side were left pointless in the Isthmian North encounter as Ryan Crisp netted in the fifth minute of injury time.

Elsewhere in the Isthmian North, Basildon United were involved in a goalless draw with Coggeshall Town and Great Wakering Rovers lost 1-0 to leaders Maldon & Tiptree thanks to a solitary goal from Lance Akins.

However, Hullbridge Sports notched a third win in four outings as they beat Soham Town Rangers 1-0.

Sports made the trip for their first fixture of 2020 and Joe Wright grabbed the all-important goal soon after the hour mark.

Darren Manning’s side finished the clash with 10 men as Andre Gumbs was dismissed with two minutes remaining.

East Thurrock United are now three points adrift of the Isthmian Premier League play-off places after sealing a 1-0 win at Margate.

Frankie Merrifield’s 77th minute goal was enough to take all three points.

In the Essex Senior League, Southend Manor drew 2-2 with Hadley at Southchurch Park.

Michael Ogboin put Manor ahead inside four minutes and the hosts doubled their advantage through Jordan Chambers.

However, two second half goals ensured Manor were made to settle for a share of the spoils.
