GREAT Wakering Rovers and Basildon United are set to go head-to-head in an eye-catching Isthmian North derby tonight.

Wakering have been challenging for a play-off place in the Steve Butterworth’s first full season as player-manager but, having not been in action for 10 days, they find themselves seven points adrift of the top five.

Basildon, who installed Alex Salmon as boss last month, will make the short journey to Burroughs Park with them 17th in the standings and eight points clear of bottom side Romford.

Unlike Wakering, the Bees were involved in a clash on Saturday.

An 83rd minute goal from Oliver Bell condemned Basildon to a 1-0 defeat at Witham Town.

Bowers & Pitsea are set to welcome Haringey Borough to the Len Salmon Stadium for an Isthmian Premier League contest tonight.

Rob Small’s side are 15th in the standings, but three points would see them leapfrog 14th-placed Haringey.

Bowers were made to settle for a 1-1 draw with Merstham at the weekend.

Callum Leahy gave Bowers a 10th minute lead but 10-man Merstham claimed a share of the spoils thanks to Calvin Ekpiteta levelling matters.
