JAMES Wakeling has called on Hullbridge Sports to be more clinical as they look to avoid an immediate return to the Essex Senior League.

Wakeling, Sports’ assistant manager, oversaw proceedings in Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Dereham Town due to boss Darren Manning being ill.

And Wakeling was left to lament Hullbridge failing to take advantage of some presentable opportunities.

“It was a frustrating result because we had some good chances and didn’t take them,” said Wakeling.

“At the other end, they took their chances.

“It was a scrappy game and there wasn’t much in it, but we have to take our opportunities in those situations.”

After a goalless first half, David Hinton gave Dereham a 68th minute lead.

And Ryan Crisp ensured there was no way back for Sports by netting in injury time.
