SOUTHEND Manor insist they are fighting for their future.

Manor – who were formed in 1955 – must improve their ground at Southchurch Park if they are to remain in the Essex Senior League.

And a petition has now been launched in a bid to help Manor get the go ahead for the work which includes having to have a fence made bigger on one side of the ground.

“We’ve sent an application to the council regarding installing a fence and new stand which we need to get passed or we’ll suffer relegation,” said a club spokesman.

“There’s a petition online against it which contain several inaccuracies so we’ve launched a counter petition now and it’s got more than 100 signatures.

“If we don’t get the all clear in June we could be set to either fold, have to groundshare elsewhere or even drop to the Olympian League which would be financial suicide for us.”
