SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley believes Simeon Akinola will be an exciting addition for the Shrimpers – but is not yet sure when he will be fit enough to feature.
The 28-year-old striker has a signed a two year deal at Roots Hall.
And Molesley is thrilled to have Akinola on board.
“Sim is a player we’ve tracked and known about and it’s an exciting acquisition for the club,” said Molesley.
“He’s got pace and a lot of assets.
“He’s hopefully coming to the peak of his career so we feel we’re getting him at the right time.
“But he’s been training by himself so he will take a few weeks to get up to speed.”
And Molesley will not be taking any risks with the forward.
“We need to be careful with him,” said Molesley.
“We obviously want him on the pitch as quickly as possible but he has to be ready so when he comes back in he stays in.
“He can play all across the front line which is great and he’s a good age too.”
