BILLY Knott is pleased to be continuing his fine season with Billericay Town.

The attacking midfielder had scored seven goals for Bowers & Pitsea before the lockdown curtailed his progress and his side’s campaign.

But Knott has now joined Billericay on a short term dual registration.

And the 27-year-old is already relishing being at New Lodge.

“I speak to Jamie (O’Hara) and Konch (Paul Konchesky) a lot generally any way so it came around that way really,” said Knott.

“I just had to message when we stopped playing.

“I just said I was fit and really wanted to carry on playing if we could work something.

“It went from there and I’m really pleased to be here.”

Knott made his Billericay debut in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Slough Town.

And Knott, who was named man of the match, was pleased to get off to such a good start.

“Going in to the game on Saturday I was confident,” said Knott.

“I know I can play and when I’m fit I have no worries.

“We have a good team and squad so individually I just had to step it up a level so I really enjoyed it and to get wins is the main thing to climb up that table.”

The win at the weekend pushed Billericay up to 13th in the National League South standings.

And Knott is now setting his sights on more success when Billericay head to Welling on Tuesday evening.

“It’s another big game coming up,” said Knott.

“If we want to move up the table like we do then we’ve just got to take them as they come and make sure we are prepared for each game.”

Knott is also keen to keep playing his part and continue the form he found with Bowers at the start of the season.

The Canvey based midfielder spent last season with Chelmsford but is now enjoying his fresh start, despite the testing circumstances with games still being played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s been a strange one with everything going on in the world but being able to get away with a game of football has been great,” said Knott who has played in the Football League for both Bradford City and Lincoln City.

“It’s been going really well too.

“I got player of the month at Bowers, I’m scoring goals and assisting so I’m enjoying it.”

But Knott is not sure what the rest of the season will hold.

“Honestly I don’t know if we can guess what’s going to happen week to week at moment,” said Knott.

“Hopefully I can keep playing and keep enjoying it, that is the main thing at moment.

“But when it is safe to do so I must say I cannot wait for the fans to be allowed back to games as soon as possible.”
