SOUTHEND Saxons made it eight victories in a row with a 27-17 win against Harlow at Warners Bridge.

The triumph kept Southend top of the Regional Two Anglia table.

And director of rugby Josh Ward was particularly pleased with the first half showing.

“We played really well, especially in that first 40,” said Ward.

“The second 40 we went missing a little bit and there were too many penalties.

“On another day we could have been even more under the cosh but we found a way.

“We got plus four last week and plus four again here against two good teams but now we’ve got another big week coming up.”

Southend are three points clear of second placed Eton Manor and head to seventh place Brentwood on Saturday.
