DANNY Scopes believes finishing in the National League South play-offs is his best achievement yet with Aveley.

Scopes, who is based in Eastwood, has guided the Millers to back to back promotions in the past two seasons.

And that momentum has enabled his side to enjoy another incredible campaign.

“I really enjoyed winning step four and I really enjoyed winning the play-offs in step three but I think has to be one of the best achievements,” Scopes told the club's website.

“I know what budget we work with and I know what others have got.

“There are full-time teams in this division and we’ve pulled up some trees this season.

“To finish with 73 points in National South is something we’"ll cherish and we should be really proud.”

Aveley head to Maidstone United on Wednesday night in a one-off play-off clash.

And Scopes knows the Kent club will be tough to beat.

“They’re a really good, tough team with a really good manager,” said Scopes.

“They’ve got good, experienced players and had a really good cup run which was a massive success.

“They’ve been a real credit to non-league and they’re at home so it will be loud and vocal.

“It will be volatile but that’s what we like and what we want too.

“It excites us but we just have to go there and be us.

“We have to enjoy these moments.”

But Scopes feels Aveley’s past success against Maidstone does not work in their favour.

“We have beaten them before but I think that makes it tougher because they won’t underestimate us,” said the former Concord Rangers boss.

“But if we go and show all the good things about Aveley football club you never know what can happen.

“We’ll be going there to win the game and you never know what can happen.”

The match will also see Aveley up against ex Southend United striker Matt Rush who started the season in the Millers’ squad.
