Premier Division: Basildon & Pitsea remain third from bottomfollowing a 57-run defeat to Hainault & Clayhall.

Hainault batted first and declared on 237-9. Despite Mark Amos’ 100, Basildon finished on 180 all out, with Hainault bagging themselves 20 points and Basildon only four.

Stanford le Hope III still remain bottom of the table following another defeat, this time at the hands of Fives & Heronians.

Hosts Stanford were bowled out for 131 as M Wheeler took 5-40.

Fives were able to capitalise on their advantage by scoring 132 for the loss of five wickets, picking up 18 points to move them up one place to fifth.

Division One: A fine all-round performance from chairman John Hearn saw Benfleet to a two-wicket win over visitors Brentwood V.

Hearn took 5-36 as Brentwood reached 225-9 declared and then posted an unbeaten 95 to anchor his side’s reply.

Zammett contributed 51 as the hosts posted 226-8 to collect 18 points to Brentwood’s 11.

Billericay are still looking for their first victory following a draw against Ardleigh Green V.

Billericay put Ardleigh into bat, but despite early wickets falling, M Walter (100) guided Ardleigh to 215-6.

Billericay posted a reply of 176-8 thanks to R Carr (57) and M Simmnett (54), but Ardleigh gained 11 points, while Billericay got five points.

Hadleigh & Thundersley got nine points from their draw at home to Harold Wood, who picked up three.

The hosts saw G Cronin top-score with 73 as they reached 198-7 declared. Harold Wood held out for the draw with 114-8.

Southend on Sea travelled to Upminster V and left with five points following a six-wicket defeat. Southend were bowled out for 157 and saw their hosts reply with 160-4 to take 18 points.

Walthamstow picked up 20 points because their scheduled visitors from Horndon on the Hill were unable to field a side. Division East: Wickford held onto top spot despite suffering a six-wicket defeat to Leigh on Sea.

Wickford declared on 180-9. But that did not post a challenge for Leigh as J Green hit 63 before Leigh finished on 181-3.

Stanford saw Orsett’s M Reynolds (5-36) pile on the pressure and reduce them to 148 all out.

In reply, Orsett batted through with a seven-wicket win, finishing on 152-3 and grabbing themselves 18 points.

Old Southendian & South-church took three points from their draw away to Hornchurch VI.

The hosts batted first and declared on 195-8 as N Clifford (53) and C Cullison (65) flourished.

Old Southendian held out for the draw with 110-9 and Hornchurch got 10 points.
