BILLERICAY Town continued their pre-season build-up with a 3-0 home win over Ryman One North Redbridge last night.

With tomorrow’s New Lodge encounter with Southend United looming (7.30pm), Ryman Premier Town rested a number of first-teamers, but took the lead on 19 minutes through Bradley Woods-Garness.

Woods-Garness then turned provider when he crossed for Joe Flack, starting his first game since November due to injury, to make it 2-0 on 27 minutes, And that is the way it stayed until Richie Eames, one of a number of trialists in action for the hosts, netted in the closing stages.

It was also a trialist, former Enfield Town man Lee Smith, who got Ryman One North Concord Rangers’ goal in their 3-1 defeat by Blue Square South Thurrock at Thames Road.

Another Ryman One North outfit, Great Wakering Rovers, found Essex Senior League Hullbridge Sports offering spirited opposition in their friendly at Burroughs Park.

Neil Richmond gave Iain O’Connell’s men a fifth-minute lead and Matt Reade wrapped up the 2-0 win on 70 minutes from the penalty spot.

Grays Athletic, from the Blue Square Premier, went to British Gas Business League Premier side Hemel Hempstead Town and won 4-0.

And it was the same scoreline at Rookery Hill, with Ryman One North hosts East Thurrock United finishing second best to illustrious Premier opponents Dartford.
