LEGRA A are leading the way in the Southend Table Tennis League Premier Division following their 8-1 win over Warehouse A.

Paul Whatton and Jamie Willson were unbeaten, while 14-year-old Owen Warren made his Premier debut a memorable one by winning one game and making his other two opponents use all their experience to beat him.

Runnymede A are hot on the heels of Legra thanks to a comprehensive victory over Rawreth B with only one game going further than three ends.

In Division One, hat-tricks for Dave Morgan and Brian Rackham gave Customs A a 6-3 win over Rawreth E.

These teams are now level pegging in second place behind Warehouse B.

Tony Reed, Terry Giddens and Des Duffield put in a team performance for Canvey B, winning two games each to take their side to a 6-3 win over Hullbridge C and lift them out of the relegation zone.

In Division Two, a hat-trick for Reg Innes of Lentern D was the decisive factor in his team’s 5-4 win over Basildon Hospital.

The hospital’s new signing, Kenneth Fung, played well to win two of his games but he found the experienced Innes too much to cope with.
