DUE to the recent results we’ve had there hasn’t been much banter around the place this week.

We’ve only lost three of our last 17 games but not many of them have been wins lately and we know we have to turn that around.

We want that to start against Huddersfield Town this weekend and, being at home, we’re confident of our chances.

It’s a good game to be playing in but they are doing well now and have recovered from their shaky start to the season.

They are a big club who have spent a bit of money and they are just below us in the table.

Huddersfield also seem to set to go into the game with Lee Clark as their new manager and that will give them a real boost.

We are often the opposition after a change in charge at a club and it certainly is not ideal.

From my own experience I know that it when a new guy comes in it really does raise confidence around the place.

It gives everyone a lift and that will be the case for Huddersfield now.

That does not concern us though and we have to concentrate on ourselves and putting things right.

It’s a massive couple of months coming up and we want to close the gap between us and the play-offs.

We have the quality in our squad to do it but the time has come for us to start showing it.

We always knew that this season was going to be full of ups and downs and that has been the case.

But we’re still in contention and that’s a positive thing.

THE ONLY HIGH OF AN OTHERWISE BAY DAY

We had more players singing ahead of our game at Leicester on Saturday.

And as it proved it was the only highlight of a disappointing day.

Liam Feeney got up but went for a rendition of The Wheels on the Bus but it didn’t go down too well.

Junior Stanislas did the French Prince of Bel-Air rap but forgot the words have way through.

Johnny Herd has already done that this year but Junior couldn’t do the whole song.

He tried to do a dance to get himself out of trouble and he probably just got away with it.

We also had a surprise star guest as our waiter joined in with the fun.

He looked exceptionally like Jim Carrey which we pointed out a few times and responded to our taunts of singing.

He stood up on a chair, used a banana as a microphone and announced his name and position.

It went downhill after that and Jim buckled under the pressure a bit because he only managed about two words.

But it still had all the lads crying with laughter.

OLYMPIANS GET MY VOTE

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year award takes place this Sunday and it is something I always look forward to.

This year there are a number of strong nominations.

Lewis Hamilton has done superbly in winning the Formula One World Drivers Championships and the boxer Joe Calzaghe has been in fine form again.

They would deserve to win but personally I would like to see one of our Olympians take the crown.

Cyclist Chris Hoy and swimmer Rebecca Adlington were both brilliant and the whole squad had the nation gripped with their success.

It was nice for a few other sports to get some of the limelight and hopefully that can happen again on Sunday.
