GEORGIA Wheatley picked up a hat-trick of titles at the fifth David Lloyd Championships.

Wheatley claimed a 6-4 6-2 victory over Rosie Clarke to claim the ladies’ singles crown before enjoying two doubles wins.

The first came in the ladies’ doubles where she partnered Vicky Wilson to a 7-5 5-7 10-5 win over Gill Sanderson and Fiona Lee.

And Wheatley followed that up with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Nigel and Mandy White while playing alongside Simon Dowell.

Matthew Harvey took the men’s B singles title — there was no A event — at the club in Snakes Lane, Eastwood, with a 6-3 6-0 win over Dave Potter.

The men’s doubles was the only match that featured a formal tie break set and saw Will Todd and Dave Petchey defeat Carl Cantor and Matt Bell 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.

Amanda and Mark Hughes prevailed in the mixed doubles plate, beating Jane Jia nad Tony Howard 6-4 3-6 10-3 in the second final to be decided on a championship tie break.

The event was organised by head coach Mary Collins.

“Sunday’s championships saw some excellent, hard-hitting tennis that thrilled the watching audience,” said a spokesman for the centre.
