DAVID Lloyd toppled Southend Lawn II to take over leadership of mixed division three.

The Eastwood-based club secured a 4-2 win over their Lawn rivals to top the table on sets difference.

But the fixture saw both rubbers go to three sets.

Kevin Barrs and Sophie Scanlon won the first set 7-6 for Lawn but Tony Argent and Keiko Petchey recovered to take the second 6-3 and force a third set decider, which they won 7-6.

The second rubber followed a similar pattern as Graham Evans and Caroline Willis went ahead 6-3.

But Lloyd’s Helen Sharpe and Angus Hanney fought back to take the next two 7-6 6-2 to secure the win.

Hadleigh Park moved up a place to take over top spot in men’s division two following their 3-3 draw with Westcliff Hard II.

Paul Clarke and Nick Borringer put Hard ahead with a 6-4 6-3 win over Ben Clows and Gary Lewis.

But Chris Ashton and Will Roberts secured the stalemate by beating Hard’s Daniel Edwards and Marcus Downham 4-6 3-6.

David Lloyd II moved up off the foot of the ladies’ division five table after beating Hockley II 3-2 at home.

Fiona Bowls and Sonia Gibbons put Lloyd in command with a 7-6 6-2 win over Vanessa Jarvis and Janice Cowell.

Wendy Edwards and Jane Jacobi took the first set 7-6 against Lloyd’s Jackie Milton and Ann Lang.

But the home pairing hit back with a 6-4 win in the second set before Edwards and Jacobi claimed the third 6-0 for Hockley.
