TYMAL Mills and Reece Topley have been added to Essex’s squad for their final match of the season as they host Surrey.

But fast-bowler Maurice Chambers has been omitted from the squad which lost to Kent last week.

Surrey arrive at Chelmsford in third position in the division two table with a return to the top-flight still a possibility.

And although Essex have nothing to play for, coach Paul Grayson says they will remain competitive.

He said: ““I always try to win every game that I’m involved with, and this is no different.

“There is pride at stake, and we want to finish the season on a positive note.

“Although we can’t get promoted, people might say that we haven’t got a lot to play for but that’s wrong.

“Players are playing for their futures at the club, and they are playing for positions in the side for next year.

Grayson also confirmed the club is looking to bring new faces to Chelmsford for the 2012 campaign.

He said: “We are talking to three players at the moment.

“We will try and bring in an overseas batsman for the start of the season because we could have four of our lads away, which is always tough.

“We are also looking for an experienced bowler to support David Masters and Graham Napier, and if you add in the three young lads, Tymal, Reece and Maurice, you’ve got three young bowlers.

“We also want an all-round cricketer who is going to fill a role whilst Ravi Bopara, Ryan ten Doeschate, Owais Shah and Alastair Cook are going to be away.

“We are going to be hit hard by the absence of those guys at the start of the season and it’s all about trying to get the right balanced side.”
