THERE is nothing more frustrating than being injured when you’re footballer.

Your days are long and while you’re doing your recovery work you can see the rest of the lads out there training, which is where you want to be.

The good news is that my injury is progressing nicely.

I don’t expect to fit for Saturday at Swindon but I should be able to push on next week and the sooner I’m out of the treatment room the better.

It’s obviously annoying missing matches, but I enjoy watching the team and seeing my team-mates doing well.

I do still feel part of the side, especially when Bilel Mohsni and Ryan Hall, pictured right, scored two goal of the season contenders in the game with Northampton on Saturday, but it is frustrating at the same time because you do want to be able to help the team.

I was in the Roots Hall dressing room after Northampton had came back to force a draw, and that meant the lads were extremely disappointed at the final whistle.

But, like I said to them at the time, we didn’t lose the game and Northampton are in a false league position at the moment.

I’m sure they will work their way up the table and, if we get a good result at Swindon, then drawing against Northampton won’t have been a bad result.

I fancy our chances against Swindon but it will be a difficult game for the boys there.

They have made an inconsistent start to the season after making a lot of signings with a huge wage bill, which made them one of the pre-season favourites for promotion.

Of course they also have Paulo Di Canio in charge, so there’s never a dull moment.

But we’ve already won at Accrington Stanley and Port Vale this year so I see no reason why we can’t get a positive result.

We signed Michael Timlin from them on loan last week and I think that’s a cracking signing for us.

I’ve played against him a few times over the years and he already knows everyone here from the loan spell last season.

That will help and it’s always good to have extra competition for places.

I’ve also got to know our midfielder, Lee Sawyer, pictured below, very well in the last few days because we’ve been getting treatment at the same time.

It’s certainly been interesting to get inside the mind of a modern youngster and to find out what makes them wear earrings, baggy jeans and hats on sideways but we've managed to drive each other on this week.

Talking about driving, Lee’s also got himself a new car this week and it’s quite a nice little run around.

But it was certainly needed because he had previously been driving an ice cream van in to training and that didn’t quite fit in to his image of a 21-year-old!
